Getting started, Part 6

If your ambition is still to become an experienced and skilled manager in ManagerLeague, we will continue to help you on the way through this guide. We will walk you through all aspects of the game and different situations. We started the guide with the most basic things and will now continue with more, even deeper insight.

To this point, we have walked you through the basic stuff you need to know to field a team, from tactics to getting to know your players. We have also walked you partly through how training works in ManagerLeague. Most of these aspects we will get back to in later chapters, when we will go deeper into the different aspects of the game.

We will now continue into some of the side aspects that will help make your team successful, the team of coaches that will help you manage your team and also go deeper into how to handle the economic aspect. You can’t have a team full of shining stars if they do not get paid due to bankruptcy.

Staff
In ManagerLeague, you have the possibility to hire 4 different types of staff: Sub-coaches, scout, caretaker and physio.

Each of these gives your team a different benefit. How big the benefits are, depends on their skills. The staff has 6 different levels of skills:  Poor, Average, Decent, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.

Expences and Player wages
The staffs wages will, of course, be influenced by their skills but also increase the higher division you're in. For example, a staff member which is excellent will cost you $16.000 each round in 4th division and as much as 22.000 each round in 1st division.

Of course, their level of expertise (skills) also influence not only their salary, but the job they will do for your team.

Coaches
If you want to hire sub-coaches, you can choose between 4 different types of expertise: keeper, defence, midfield and attack. You can only hire one coach per position. The role of the sub-coaches is to help the players develop and perform their best during training. And obviously, for example: the keeper-trainer works only with the keepers, not the rest of the team.

Caretaker
Except for the sub-coaches, the caretaker is the most important staff to hire. He will help you maintain your stadium so that your stadium decay is kept to a minimum. If your stadium decay becomes too high without you fixing it, a random upgrade of yours will disappear.
The more upgrades you have, the more people will come to your matches. We will come back to this in the next chapter of ML School.

Scout
In ManagerLeague, you are only allowed to hire one scout. He will help you sort out the players that fit your team the best. He will of course also tell you the potential of any given player. If you hire a Good scout, he will give you the players that have good potential, whereas if you hire an Excellent scout, he will only give you the players with excellent potential.
To use your scout, you need to check the box stating “Use scout” on the search page for players. Remember, your scout can only be used once per season. If you want to save the scouts results, you can always save a screen shot of his results. That way, you can localise players with the given potential at a later stage, without a scout.

Physio
He prevents injuries on players by massage and other muscle treatments. Remember, he will only work during training, not on match days.

The staff are an important part of your team in ManagerLeague. Even if most of the things we have told you today seem to be obvious, lots of managers forget to consider this aspect of ManagerLeague. In the next chapter of ML School, we will tell you about your stadium and the upgrades available.
