Getting started, Part 1If you really wish to be a good and distinguished Manager in Managerleague, we will help you on your way with this Getting Started guide. Here we will go through all the aspects and situations you can encounter. We will start off easy, and build up with more and more insight into the game. In this first lesson we will teach you to get to know the team you are given. Your team will have some already set qualifications so that everyone who starts at the same time will have a similar chance for success. You will be given a certain amount of money, and your stadium can take 5000 spectators. Your players will have an average quality (Q) of about 62, and several other small things are set to a specific value. Here is Tip #1: Don't spend all your money on a new player at this point. We recommend you spend some of your money in the beginning to upgrade your stadium capacity. This is a safe investement and will quickly double your ticket-revenue. Your Lineup When you log in for the very first time after starting your team, you should set up your team correctly. You will find this under the menu Team -> Team Setup. On the top of the page you can choose from 10 formations. Consider changing your formation to suit your best lineup, but we will get back to this later. You should see the entire squad on this page. Numbers 1-11 is your lineup (the players who will start the next match), and 12-16 is substitutes. The other players (17->) is in your squad, but not on the field. Your first decision as as manager should be to eliminate some players from your squad, around 20 is more than enough players to start off with. Every player that has a quality of Q60 or lower can be sacked, since they are so bad no one would buy them. To sack a player, click on the players name, and a new window will pop-up with the players info. Down to the right in this window you will find a button where it says "Sack Eddy English (§2.000.000)". The sum in the brackets indicated an amount you will get for sacking the players, not money you have to pay (He's buying himself out of your contract). Once you have slimmed down your troop as much as it suits you (remember, the LEAST amount of players you can have is 18, and we recommend having at least 20), it might be a good idea to look at the players individual skills, and not just the calculated "quality". Each player has eight visible skills; keeping, tackling, passing, shooting, heading, speed, stamina and perception. For each position on the field, some of these skills are more important and will be highlighted. These skills are the ones who will be most important when a players quality is calculated. (A keepers most important skills are keeping, passing, speed and perception. his quality as a keeper will thereby be much better than as an attacker) Please notice the players fitness, which will tell you how usable he is for the upcoming match. If a player drops underneath 80 in fitness, he will be considered an injured player. After you and your team has gotten to know each other, it might be a good idea to choose which formation suits you the best. As mentioned earlier, its normally best to choose a formation that suits your team, rather than a formation you prefer. Remeber, a formation with only three defenders normally require three GOOD defenders for it to work properly. If you are a very big fan of 4-3-3, but dont have enough good attackers it might be smart to consider something more defensive from the beginning, and rather work your way towards your favourite formation. Now you can start playing some matches and play around abit. On the next page will we look more at tactics and planning before and during matches. |
